Ground Blind

Brady, Thomas and I went out and made us an archery ground blind.  Well, should I say that I made 99.9% of it.  They spent some time catching grasshoppers.  This is one southern enginerred blind but I think it will do the trick.

There are a few head of cattle in the place where I hunt.  My pop up hunting blind would get demolished by the cattle if I had it in there.  No deer are coming to the feeder yet but I know they will find it.  I have never seen a deer resist eating corn.

I am taking Brady tommorrow to go through the hunter education class.  I hope he can pass the test.  He sure wants to shoot a deer this year.

Tree Stand

Getting ready for deer season.... the family and I went out on Labor Day to set up the tree stand.  Didn't get it all the way accomplished, but I'll get there!

The boys are ready to see some deer, how about you?

Grandma's 90th

Our family had a big birthday party for my grandma this weekend, her 90th!  Almost all of her family attended.  It was great to spend time with relatives you have not seen in quite some time.

Several of us got up at the party and told stories about how grandma has made an impact on our lives. Most of it included fishing!  She definitely has made a positive and wonderful impact on me over the years.  I am blessed to be her grandson.

Exciting News To Me

I received an email today from a friend saying that my competition deer was being featured on the United Taxidermists Association website.  So, I looked it up and there it was!  This made my day.

The UTA is all about promoting taxidermy along with educating taxidermists.  If you are a taxidermist and are seriously wanting to enhance your taxidermy skills, then you need to join the UTA.

Check out the United Taxidermists Association site here.

Summer Break Over

Well, school is in session and the summer break went fast.  Thomas started school this year and was fired up to go.  He likes having a back pack and going to school with his brother.

I am ready for fall to get here.  Dove season is just around the corner and there are plenty flying around here.  I might just have to shoot a few.
