T-Ball has started

T-ball season has started.  The team my boys play on won third place this weekend at the Granite tournament.  The tournament had to be canceled during the first part of the week due to rain and the whole tournament was played in just three days.  The boys played four games Saturday back to back and they were exhausted.  Brady and Thomas are so proud of their trophies and I am proud of them as well.

Sally Cat is Back

You may have heard about our outside cat, Sally.  She has been with us quite a while and is featured on the Look At This! page.  Many taxidermy customers have come to love her, I wanted to tell a story that recently happened.

When we went to the monster trucks as blogged below we stayed the night in Witchita Falls.  We left Sally outside that night due to the nice weather.  (She sleeps in the corner of the garage.  We do not have pets in the house.)  When we returned back home Sally was gone.  Brady and I searched and called for her all around the pasture and premises and had no luck.  After a few days I chalked her up as a loss thinking a coyote snatched her up.  She can run fast on those three legs but I dont think she could out run a predator.

Late Wednesday evening we loaded up our bikes and went to town to ride and exercise.  We parked at my mother in laws house and started riding toward the park.  My mother in law was sitting on her front porch when we rode off and stayed there a little while.  While on the porch she noticed a cat limping like Sally down the street.  She went over there and sure enough it was her.  My mother in law brought her to the park and we were all in shock.  After being gone so long, and to turn up at my MIL's house while we were there?!

Sally was gone for 18 days and she lost some weight on her journey.  I wish I could hear her story for the past 18 days.  I am glad to have her back.  I hope she will stick with us from now on and grow old with us.

Operation: Meet the General

Friday March 20th 2009 will be a day I will never forget.  My family and I met General Tommy Franks.  We delivered a buffalo that I shoulder mounted for him.
It was an honor for my family and I to meet and spend some time visiting with this great American HERO.  I know my boys do not realize it now, but I'm telling them, "When they are in high school they will be reading about General Tommy Franks in their history book!"  and now they will have a story to share and a picture to stand behind it.

Meeting General Tommy Franks was awesome.  He lead our troops in Operation Enduring Freedom and Operation Iraqi Freedom.  If you google General Tommy Franks and spend some time reading about him you will be amazed and also grateful for what this man has done for our nation.  What an honor for my family and I to meet and do business with such a wondeful man.

You can read what Amanda has to say about it here...

Monster Jam!

For Brady's birthday this year we took him to the Monster Trucks Monster Jam in Wichita Falls, Texas.  It was a good time and we saw the popular Gravedigger tear it up.  The trucks really couldn't cut loose like I hoped they would.  The arena they were in was close quarters and as soon as they romped over the cars they had to brake and turn instantly.  It was still fun to see.

My favorite part of the night was the motorcross freestyle jumpers.  These guys put on a show.  It was like watching the X Games on TV but only better.

I'm ready for daylight savings time

It wont be long and daylight savings time will be here and I am ready for it.  I enjoy it being light till late in the evening. The boys like to play out in the shop and tie things together outside.  I am also enjoying the warmer weather.  It definitely feels like spring.  I have got some weeds that are green now and needing my attention. How can they grow when we haven't had rain in months?

My sons first grade class had a program this morning at school.  It was very touching and I know the teachers worked very hard with them to pull it off.  They did a song in sign language "See Me Beautiful" and did a picture slide show of the entire first grade class and their activities during the year.  Great job everyone.

I recently joined Facebook.  Have you?  It has been fun seeing old friends and their new families.  After you graduate, time really flies by. If you are on facebook, message me  - let's be friends. :)

If you have an outdoor photo with your animal or something neat with the outdoors contact me and we can see about putting it on my website.  Check out the Look At This, Pics From the Field page.  I add new pics as I get them.

Talk to you soon!   Mike
