On opening day of 2011 I had a customer show up at the shop with a deer he shot that morning.  He caped it himself and royally screwed it up.  There was no shoulder mount coming off that deer. 

Later that afternoon a friend of mine called and he had shot a buck as well and wanted it mounted.  I asked him to bring it to me so I could cape it.  I mentioned that one had come in already and it was messed up.  His comment to me was "let me make a video of you caping my deer.  I will edit it and produce a video for people to watch."  I agreed to this so that I could have something on my website to help people take care of their trophy. 

This video he produced is watched quite frequently.  It stays toward the top on my statistics list on my website.  I have had a great deal of positive feedback on this video.  I had a person tell me I should market it and sell it to the public.  Even though that is a great idea, I want it to do what it has been doing on my website and that is helping people learn how to cape a deer.

I sure do.  I am seeing weeds everywhere this year.  We hired a guy to spray this year and they are wilting.  Time to get the mower fired up as well.  There may be quite a bit of mowing to do this year.   

]]>Crazy Weekhttp://www.mikestaxidermyartistry.com/blog/2012/3/29/crazy-week.htmlReimer's2012-03-30T02:41:14Z2012-03-30T02:41:14ZI enjoyed spring break while it lasted.  Glad I had a little break.  This week has been fast and furious.  On Monday I attended two funerals.  Both funerals were good.  There good funerals when you know they are saved and are with the LORD.  I absolutely love the video tributes played at funerals these days.  They are great to watch and they show off the life of the person. 

Baseball started this week too.  I love watching my boys play baseball. 

Between all of the funerals and baseball I got quite a bit accomplished out in the shop. 

]]>Spring Breakhttp://www.mikestaxidermyartistry.com/blog/2012/3/15/spring-break.htmlReimer's2012-03-15T23:33:45Z2012-03-15T23:33:45ZI am glad spring break is here.  I need a break just as much as my boys do.  I am going to take some time off this week and spend quality time with the family.  My boys are growing up way to quick and I do not want to be the dad that looks back and says I wish I would have spent more time with them. 

I have been working on a massive buffalo for the past three days.  This buffalo is big and beautiful.  There are no scars or blemishes whatsoever on the hide.  I will post pictures of him when he is completed on my blog.

]]>Arkansas Showhttp://www.mikestaxidermyartistry.com/blog/2012/2/20/arkansas-show.htmlReimer's2012-02-20T05:29:29Z2012-02-20T05:29:29ZI traveled to Fort Smith, Arkansas this weekend to attend the Arkansas Taxidermists Association competition and convention.  I had a booth there to showcase my camo skulls.  What a great time I had there .  I came home with having made new friends as well as more education in taxidermy that I can put to use.  

I also competed there in the competition.  I won first place with a buffalo and received a trophy for the highest scoring piece in the professional division.  I also took a whitetail deer and it scored a second place. 

I had a great weekend.
